CARTIER'S “THE CULTURE OF DESIGN” EXHIBITION
AT THE GAZELLI ART HOUSE BAKU GALLERY WITH THE SUPPORT OF ITALDIZAIN
On October 23rd, the Gazelli Art House Gallery in Baku inaugurated the exhibition "The Culture of Design" by Cartier. This exhibition is a tribute to the history, design, and modern interpretation of the House's seven iconic collections.
The legendary pieces Santos, Tank, Trinity, Love, Juste un Clou, Panthère, and Ballon Bleu, all presented at the exhibition, embody four core principles: purity of lines, precision of form, accurate proportions, and exquisite details. Due to its meticulously crafted designs, the jewellery and watches effortlessly harmonise with any era. Modern for some, vintage for others, yet Cartier pieces stand the test of time remaining – classic, timeless, irreplaceable. Even when recreated, they continue to excite minds, and luxury goods become family heirlooms. Cartier pieces represent a cultural and emotional legacy.
The “Culture of Design” exhibition, organised with the assistance of Italdizain, is spread over three floors of the Gazelli Art House gallery. The first floor serves as a welcoming space with a pop-up café, while the second floor hosts a photo and video exhibition showcasing iconic pieces, design elements, and Cartier's renowned enthusiasts, such as Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly, Catherine Deneuve, and Muhammad Ali, with stories about the character traits reflected in Cartier's iconic shapes. The third floor has been transformed into a lecture theatre where public performances will take place.
One aspect of the exhibition involved a collaborative project with some of Azerbaijan's most prominent figures in the creative community, such as – singer, composer and musician Diana Hajiyeva; pianist, composer and musicologist Riad Mammadov; art curator and founder of “Barza Collection” Samira Sefi; multidisciplinary artist Elnara Nasirli; artist, art worker Zohrab Salam-zadeh; designer and founder of “Scandar brand” Anar Isgandarli; fashion stylist and artist Murad Valiyev. The project tells about their relationship with the House's iconic creations. Each of the participants has their own favourite and their own emotional connection with the piece.
"The Culture of Design" exhibition will be open to the public on 28 and 29 October.
Entrance is free of charge, upon pre-registration at https://italdizain.az/az/events/the-culture-of-design.
