KHAITE
On the postcard before the show at Chelsea Piers, guests were greeted by a brief statement from Catherine Holstein: generational legacy and the flow of memory were the main themes. As for the clothing, if we look at it one way, the collection presented sharpness with leather jackets featuring rectangular shoulders, cropped military coats, and structured tuxedos. But if we look at it another way, there was a play of lightness and volume in duchess satin skirts, leather cocoon coats, and silk gazar tops that seemed to softly pulse away from the body. Evening looks, in turn, highlighted a casual elegance with crinkled silk slips and dresses with sleeves made of lightweight silk chiffon.
AREA
In a unique showcase by New York's Area, designer Piotrek Panszczyk adorned dresses with playful 'googly eyes.' The collection featured these eyes in various sizes, embellishing skirts and leather pieces, alongside a revamped Dalmatian pattern. Inspired by surrealism and Pop Art, Panszczyk incorporated vibrant cartoonish flowers with Area's signature crystal adornments. The brand's synonymous crystals were amplified, creating oversized necklaces and fringed skirts. While avant-garde pieces suit exclusive events, crystal-studded jeans and chic Area-branded tank tops are poised for wider appeal.
MICHAEL KORS
Michael Kors labeled his Fall/Winter 2024 collection as ‘Timeless,’ showcasing his ongoing dedication to perfecting the essential components of a woman’s wardrobe, prioritizing longevity over fleeting trends. Kors highlighted that the timeless and enduring qualities of attire are embedded in its quality, simplicity, and sophistication. He emphasized his enduring commitment to creating fashion that stands the test of time. The collection presented various garments, such as pointed pumps, and even a hoodie, embodying a sense of elegance and sophistication, tailored double-breasted suits, leather jackets with soft shearling collars.
