Kharibulbul

Aghabeyim Agha, the daughter of the khan, was sent off to faraway Iran to be married. Intelligent, beautiful, and full of energy, she played a role in state affairs, corresponded with notable contemporaries and even sent a letter to Napoléon Bonaparte. She was homesick, however, and the Shah of Iran ordered that a gar- den be created identical to the one in Shusha, where his beloved wife had grown up. The best masters and gardeners set to work, and it was only the kharibulbul that could not strike root in the garden. This elegant plant will only grow in the soil of Karabakh. The verses by Aghabeyim dedicated to this flower were set to music and turned into a folk song.
