BVLGARI: MELONE — THE RETURN OF AN ICON

For the new season, Bvlgari once again draws upon its rich heritage, transforming archival designs into contemporary objects of desire. Among the most anticipated returns is the iconic Melone evening clutch, first created in the 1970s and now reimagined as a precious objet d’art.

Named for its resemblance to the melon fruit, Melone embodies Bvlgari’s distinctive ability to unite sculptural expression, jewellery-inspired aesthetics and functionality. Its instantly recognisable fluted silhouette, reminiscent of a precious gemstone, preserves the essence of the original design while receiving a contemporary interpretation.

The new version is crafted in gold-finish aluminium. Its rounded body is defined by fluid contours and a striking cabochon-inspired closure adorned with a white mother-of-pearl insert. An innovative opening mechanism elegantly divides the clutch into two symmetrical halves, both lined in supple nappa leather. Completing the design are two interchangeable silk tassels in black and ivory. For further personalisation, an additional selection of 12 colours can be ordered.

Melone transcends the traditional notion of an evening bag: it is at once an accessory, a jewel and a collectible object, created with the spirit of Bvlgari’s High Jewellery craftsmanship. The model will be available from October 2026.

The return of Melone marks a new chapter in the evolution of the Maison’s Leather Goods. For Spring–Summer 2027, Bvlgari’s iconic signatures once again become a source of inspiration for new silhouettes, materials and exceptional techniques.

One of the season’s key debuts is Serpenti 1968, a contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary Serpenti 1968 jewellery watch. The combination of a sculptural metallic handle, echoing the sinuous body of the serpent, and a magnetic snakehead closure highlights the design’s jewellery origins. Its structured rectangular silhouette, softened by rounded corners and quilted leather, can be transformed: the metallic handle can be replaced with a bold Cobra chain, shifting the bag from an elegant top-handle style to a striking shoulder silhouette. The palette includes Chalcedony Blue, Almandine Garnet, Perla White and classic black.

Bvlgari’s archival heritage continues to live on in Serpenti Cuore 1968, featuring the Maison’s signature hand-enameled serpent handle and a sculptural heart-shaped silhouette. For the new season, Bvlgari introduces the design in rich Almandine Garnet, complemented by five enamel shades, as well as a delicate Pink Petalite and white combination.

The evening collection is further enriched by the miniature Serpenti Cuoricino, first introduced in Chalcedony Blue and subsequently revealed in an exceptional Silver Neige Pavé Crystal version. More than 4,300 Swarovski crystals, specially developed for Bvlgari, illuminate the design, with approximately 1,000 crystals individually applied by hand during the final stage of its creation. The result transforms the bag into a radiant jewel to carry.

Serpenti Forever also continues to evolve. The new Medium Top Handle and Medium Shoulder Bag introduce more contemporary proportions and fluid lines while retaining the signature snakehead closure. The familiar Elongated Top Handle returns in a new Jadeite shade, while the collection is further enriched by designs crafted in precious karung in delicate pastel hues.

Another defining Bvlgari signature, Tubogas, takes on a new expression in the Tubogas Sphere bag. Crafted in Almandine Garnet calf leather, the design features a gold-finish brass handle with sculptural spherical elements inspired by the Maison’s jewellery creations of the 1970s. Translucent enamel and crystal pavé further emphasise the connection between High Jewellery and Leather Goods.

Exceptional craftsmanship occupies a central place within the collection. Galaxy Crystals translates the imagery of a celestial universe into extraordinary accessories: on the Serpenti Forever Mini Top Handle, more than 15,000 crystals in 28 different shades create an intricate, multicoloured constellation. The final stage involves the hand-application of approximately 1,900 crystals, adding depth, light and chromatic intensity to the design.

Equally captivating is the new Lotus Garden Embroidery technique, inspired by the Maison’s iconic Calla Pattern. The geometric motif takes on a more organic expression, with leaves, branches and blooming calla lilies transformed into richly textured compositions through intricate hand embroidery, Lurex, raffia, crystals and pearls. Each creation requires days of meticulous artisanal work, with every detail carefully executed by hand.

From the archival Melone to new interpretations of Serpenti and Tubogas, Bvlgari continues to develop its distinctive language of accessories — a language in which the handbag transcends its functional purpose to become an extension of the Maison’s jewellery artistry.
