For me, style has never been about following rules. It’s about freedom, feeling, and colour. I’ve always found it hard to plan an outfit days in advance. Even when I do, I usually end up changing something last-minute. That’s because I see style as a daily reflection of who I am, not a fixed definition. If I wake up feeling bright and playful, I’ll mix colours unapologetically. On quieter days, I might reach for black or white. There are no boundaries – just expression. If I had to choose just one “safe” item, the kind that lives in the same category as a “little black dress”, it would be my headscarves. They’ve been the saviours of countless good and bad hair days, and they add that perfect final touch to almost any outfit. For me, they’re not just accessories; they’re a quiet signature. This instinctive, fluid approach to style has naturally flowed into Theanjir, the artisan handmade jewellery brand I co-founded with two incredible women, Deniz and Fatima. Each of us brings something deeply personal to the brand – our own colour, energy, and soul. One is the brain, one the connector, and I suppose I’m the colourful one. The creative pulse, as they often say. But they, along with our team, are the beating heart of Theanjir – the ones who keep it all going. In fact, Theanjir was originally their idea. The name itself carries layers of meaning: “The” as in the definite article, and “an-jir,” meaning “fig.” But when said aloud, it’s pronounced like “zəncir,” the Azerbaijani word for chain. A subtle nod to one of the core elements in our designs. It’s a name that binds our individual spirits into one shared vision. Theanjir is not just a brand, it’s a living collage of our personalities. My love for colour, playfulness, and spontaneity shapes much of what I bring to the table. I believe that in a world full of dullness, adding a spark, a vivid hue, an unexpect-ed combination, a personal twist is more than just a style choice. It’s a way of living. We don’t follow trends; we follow emotions. And at Theanjir, we create with that same mindset: from soul, with intention, for joy.
